Good day,
We are currently running BW (NW 7.31 - SPS05) on HANA.
The current installation is an ABAP only installation, however there is a requirement from business for BI JAVA as well.
Is it possible to install a BI JAVA add-in to our currently installed system to make it a dual stack?
If not, what are the alternatives for BI JAVA implementation?
Regards,
Yudesh
Hi Yudesh,
no, that's unfortunately not possible.
SAP HANA doesn't Support dual-stack installations.
You will have to install the Java stack as a separate system.
You will at least need to use NW Java 7.4 SP04 if you intend to install it on HANA as well.
Regards,
Marco

Hi Naidoo,
Upgrading your BW system to BW 7.4 SP04 doesn't make any sense since you don't have all those cool staff there, and it is not recommended by SAP you MUST go at least to BW7.4 SP5, of course better to go for SP6.
In your concrete situation go for Unified BI Java and BW ABAP Deployment for SAP HANA(SAP Note 1645590 ), which means you have one HANA DB which has JAVA Schema and ABAP Schema.
so you end up installing New NW JAVA 7.4 on new JAVA Schema and you have to upgrade your BW to NW7.4 SP5 at least( prerequisite by SAP)
Then you configure Usage type BI_JAVA on your JAVA Server and connect two Apps servers.
