ODBC Error... SAP Hana trial version

Former Member

Hi good post.. exactly what I'm searching for...

I'm new using SAP HANA, and I'm trying to extract data from a DW (SQL Server 2012) and load it into SAP HANA.. I created a SAP HANA account (Trial during 30 days)... Now I'm trying to create the ODBC connection... All the time it returns an error: ... no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.... :S

My laptop is running om Windows 7, and

1º) I installed locally the SAP Hana client tools, (both 32 bits and 64 bits)

2º) I got the Server IP

3º) I did the association between the IP and a user friendly server name: hanacloud

4º) I tried  to create the ODBC connection :

Server:port > hanacloud:30015

User: SYSTEM

password: manager

And I get always the error:

ODBC -ERROR

Communication link failure; -10709 Connection failure (RTE:[89006] System call 'connect' failed, rc=10061. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Do you have any idea, if I'm missing something?

Many Thanks, Luis

  Hi ,

You don't need to install both client versions:

   Please find my comments:

The client software you will be using to query HANA will determine whether or not you want to      download the 32-bit or 64-bit version.

For instance, if you are using Excel, do you have 32 or 64-bit Office installed?

You will need the matching architecture of the HANA client (32 or 64 bit).

If your PC is running 64-bit Windows, and you are using 32-bit software (i.e. 32-bit Excel) then you   will need to create an ODBC Data Source using the 32-bit Data Source Administrator.  Or, if you   are using 64 bit software, use the 64-bit Data Source Administrator.

Then follow these steps:

1.  Select Control Panel.

2. Select Administrative Tools

3. Select Data Sources(ODBC)

4. Select the system DSN tab

5. Select Add

6.  Select HDBODBC for 64 bit machines

Select HDBODC32 for 32 bit machines.

     Select Finish

   Hope this will help.
