How to migrate Oracle Database to SAP HANA?

Former Member

Hi,

we need to migrate an Oracle Database (11.2.0.4) with all Tables, Procedures etc. to SAP HANA. The size of the database is about 4 TB.

So what I am woundering is how to do this migration (actually transformation) from Oracle to SAP HANA.

It is nonSAP migration. Which methods and tools do SAP recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Yunus

Hi All:

Ispirer systems provides migration tools that can use Oracle as a source database and SAP HANA as the target.

See Ispirer - Database Migration

A demo of their tool can be seen here:

Couple of other links worth looking into:

For schema migration, unless you already have DDL scripts that you can leevrage, SAP PowerDesigner be used.

See http://www.sap.com/pc/tech/database/software/model-driven-architecture/index.html

For data migration, esp when source system needs to continue to be up and running, SAP Replication Server, maybe a good choice.

See http://www.sap.com/pc/tech/database/software/sybase-data-replication-software/index.html

Please note that exact level of support provided by PowerDesigner and Replication Server for HANA will need to be verified. These products are best of breed and come from the Sybase acquisition. I believe they have been updated to support SAP HANA but exact level of support etc needs to be verified.

SAP also provides end-to-end migration services for such migrations. I'll find the contact point to further add to this thread.

Hi,

in our case, SAP Replication Server would be interesting I think. Does it require a separate Server? I'm wondering how SAP handles with the Replication Server Licences. I guess it is not included with the HANA licenses?

I'm going to try it and will give you some feedback!

Thanks for your support.

Best regards

SLT works perfect for migrating the data from Oracle and also i you want to replicate real time. It needs a separate app server. Below is the link which has more details on licensing.

To all

Probably like lots of you out there, we like to get familiar with the migration of Oracle to Hana. But working in a Hospital environment our hospital information system bases on SAP needs to up and running 24*365. Quit a challenge, especially when trying to migrate from oracle to Hana.

So curious if someone has an Idea
